The Marriage of Figaro

Yesterday we went to the 1 pm performance of "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Sydney Opera House. We had never been to an opera before and I have to admit that I was worried that it would be boring or difficult to understand.  It was very good.  It was in Italian, but there were surtitles above the stage with English translations.  It was quite long (3 and a half hours including the 20 minute intermission) and the third act seemed to drag a bit, but we both gave it an 8 out of 10.  We found it interesting that a story that could be covered in a 30 minute long sitcom easily was extended over 3 hours.
After the show we went to dinner at The Rocks Cafe.  It was a really good meal.  We have been having a little trouble finding affordable restaurants here.  It also seems a lot of the restaurants serve the same things, but this place was great.  I was in the mood for a burger and Ben had a lamb dish.  We got a piece of lemon meringue pie for dessert.  The layer of meringue was at least 6 inches high!
