Tennis Anyone?

The gates to Melbourne Park opened at 10 am and we arrived via tram soon after.  We had so much fun just wandering around checking out the matches and practicing going on on the smaller outer courts.  At 11 am a men's doubles seminfinal match started in Rod Laver Arena.  The Bryan brothers were one of the pairs.  They are from the United States and ended up winning the championship.
They won their match fairly quickly so there was some time to walk around some more and get some lunch before the two women's matches.  The first women's seminfinal match was Li Na vs. Caroline Wozniacki.  Li Na won in three sets.

Before the next women's match we went and bought some souvenirs.  We each got an Australian Open hat.  The next match was Kim Clijsters vs. Vera Zvonareva.

Kim Clijsters won quite easily in 2 sets and went on to win the championship a couple of days later against Li Na.  It was really fun to see professional tennis matches.  We had great seats in the shade.  The atmosphere was quite different from other professional sporting events we have been to.  It wasn't as raucous or loud.  Everyone was silent while the players were serving and playing out the points.  It was fun to watch the ball kids in action too.

We took the tram back to the city center for dinner and went back to the hotel to watch one of the men's semifinal matches on tv.
