Tiger Snake!
When we were at the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road, we came across this snake making his way across one of the footpaths. After finding a reptile guidebook on KI, we were able to make the identification of a Tiger Snake.
This is a venomous snake common to southern Australia and Tasmania. It has a highly potent venom and mortality is around 60% if untreated. Thankfully, these snakes are not very aggressive and there is an antivenom available. We cared for a few snakebite victims while I was at the LGH.
